Product overview

Serum bottles differ from ordinary vials in one respect that matters: the crimp-neck closure. A rubber stopper compressed under an aluminium seal produces a genuinely hermetic barrier that a screw cap cannot match, and it is why serum bottles remain standard for anything that must stay sterile or oxygen-free through its shelf life.

Available 2 ml to 250 ml in clear and amber, with 13 mm and 20 mm crimp finishes. Stopper choice is a real specification decision: butyl offers excellent moisture and gas barrier at lower cost, while chlorobutyl adds superior chemical resistance for aggressive contents.

Depyrogenated and sterile options are available for pharmaceutical filling, supplied ready to use.

Questions about Serum Bottles (All Sizes)

What is the difference between a serum bottle and a vial?

A serum bottle uses a crimp-neck closure — a rubber stopper compressed under an aluminium seal — which creates a genuinely hermetic barrier. Standard vials commonly use screw caps, which are easier to open and reclose but do not seal as completely. Choose serum bottles when sterility or an oxygen-free headspace must hold through shelf life.

Which stopper material should I specify?

Butyl rubber suits most applications and offers an excellent moisture and gas barrier at lower cost. Chlorobutyl adds superior chemical resistance for aggressive or reactive contents. Send the formulation and we will recommend a material and confirm compatibility.

Can we make this to your specification?

Yes. Mesh size, assay strength, blend ratio, packaging format and label are all specifiable. We are the OEM — if you need this material milled differently, blended with another active, or delivered as a finished encapsulated product under your own brand, that is ordinary work for us rather than an exception.
